The True Purpose of Animals On HL
For the past three years (for those of you who have been on longer than that - after the changes) we've noticed that racing has become really popular. For those of you signed up just for making a lot of money by racing in the world... some sad news:
"There is NO such thing as training a horse for racing on HL. You cannot simply dump the word "racer" or "famous" in a horse's name and try to sell it for 3500 coins. The speed of a horse in the world PURELY depends on the health, your computer, your internet connection speed, whether you have other browsers/programs open. HL was NOT programmed to make some horses faster than others. You cannot train a horse to be fast. A horse might be super fast with someone, if sold to a player with an ancient computer and slow dial-up internet, it WILL be slow again."
The REAL training is done by entering your horse/dog in shows, which really raises their worth, and give you more player points too! To enter a horse in shows, it must be vetted and farriered and between the ages of 3 and 21. For a dog, vetted and groomed and between 3 and 16. All shows will award points, but they take some of your animal's health in return.
Every trainer has a different strategy for training though, so experiment and see what works best for you, to get the maximum points!

Automatic Shows
These shows are entered by clicking a button over and over again. They will run automaticall at midnight HL time on the show date, thus you can enter then beforehand and just wait for it to run and give points. If you enter these show classes, it create "unruns" on a horse/dog, meaning the points haven't yet been awarded as the shows haven't run. If you sell a horse with unruns, it will still get all the points, but the player points will go to the current owner, not the one who entered the shows.
How to:
Make sure the horse/dog is cared for. For a horse, click on "enter show" underneath their avatar and select the button that says "automatic shows". For a dog, click "enter this dog in a show" next to the button that says "save changes".
Enter the date you want the shows to run, select the one you want. It will open in a new pop-up window. Now, click the green button until all the classes are entered.
Some Tips:
• You can enter your horse/dog in 100 classes (2 shows) for each day. That way the health will remain constant and you'll get most points.
• Or you can enter your horse/dog in 300 classes every second day, but that way you'll soon be on 25% health (your horse/dog cannot gain any more points even if he is entered in more points).
• Or you can enter your dog (if it has 100% health) in 700 - 750 classes. This should get you around 20k points, but it should take a while to get to 100% health.
Hints:
Horse/dog will get the most points if you enter unflooded shows (that means that not many players have entered the same show). Also there is a theory that after the horse/dog's health is under 65-60% you'll get less points. As at the moment there aren't many trainers that do auto training this doesn't matter. Your horse/dog will still get most points as the shows are mainly unflooded.
For every 100 classes your horse/dog will loose 10% of health.
3-D Jumping Shows:
These shows differ to the auto shows in 3 major ways: it is interactive, meaning you control the points, the points are awarded instantly when you finish and it is only for horses, not dogs. In these shows you guide your horse through a course of jumps, earning points for your time and the amount of jumps cleared. You get a 10% bounus for clear rounds too!
How To:
Make sure the horse is cared for. Click on "enter show" underneath the avatar/picture. Select a jumping show you'd like to enter. Wait for the page to load, it may take a few seconds. First click "practice" on each class to see the courses. Then you can go back and click "enter class". Use the arrow keys to move and spacebar to jump, and have fun!
Some Tips:
•Enter premium players' shows. They can make special shows, eg. Beach, Grand Prix, Christmas, Valentines, Independance day, etc. These special shows give more points than basic shows.
•Do not enter the horse in more shows if its health is below 50%, the points gained will be almost useless as the speed will be very, very low.
•Each show has 4 jumping classes, but you pay for each one. Do not enter the shows that are too expensive if you're still starting out, it just wastes coins.
•Enter only shows that are easy points, i.e. jumps in straight lines, etc.
•Click practice on each before you enter, to check out the course and make sure it's easy enough.

Ticket Training:
Premi players can sell tickets of which they can buy 30 per month for horses, (50 for dogs) and sell on to others. After those they can get from the store, they have the option of either earning points or tickets when doing 3-D shows. They can sell tickets, or use them on their own horses/dogs. The prices vary widely. They can be used on any animal (including those under 3 and over 21- see below). Each ticket add 30 points on to the horse or dog. The good thing about ticket training is that it doesn't use any of your horse/dog's health.
Horses under 3 and over 21 can still gain points, even thought they cannot enter shows, as they can be ticket trained. Search around there are lots of trainers who will ticket train. Read the players' pages before requesting tickets as some will state their tickets are "private" or you have to ask before requesting. Remember just because you apply for a ticket doesn't mean you will get one, the trainer decides which to accept!
There are also Dog tickets. These are the same as horse tickets in that they also award your dogpoints. Every premi player can buy one horse set AND one dog set per month, but can earn lots more through the shows!
The Health Bar:
Health regains slightly oddly in that it will regain 30% of the health lacking each day so a horse with say 60% health has 40% missing. So 30% of that 40% will be 12% so that day the horse will go from 60% to 74%. the next day as it only has 26% missing it will gain 7.8% so up to 81.8% and so on. (this is best worked out using a calculator)
NOTE: your horse will not regain health if it is not fed therefore make sure you feed your horse.
Auto shows take about 10% health per 1oo classes.
3-D shows take about 1% per class completed.
Making Shows:
All players, Basic and Premi can make a show now. For basic players that's once every 7 days, for clubs and premi players every 4 days. There are 3 different types. For horses you can make a 3D show or a auto show and for dogs you can only make an auto show.
They cost between 1-5 coins. Included in a price of the show is tax. It's 1 coins and goes back to HL, the rest of the money from show (people that entered) goes to the player that made it.
If you need the show for yourself and don't want lots of entries price it at 5 coins, but if you'd like to make money and don't really need the points, then price it lower. The lower the price the more entries you'll get.
If you price your show at 0 coins, the show will cost 1 coin (tax remember), so you won't get any coins from it.
(If you don't know HOW to make shows, go read under "Making Money" for the guidelines and explanations.
